Last week we had bands and organisers down from the OXJAM Dalston takeover event.
The team of three girls running the event are a tight-nit bunch of volunteers who got three great bands down for the event and gave us their time to talk about running an OXJAM Takeover event.
After a quick drink in The Fox on Kingsland Road first up to record was Emily Capell, a sweet and humble kinda girl who changes the instant her guitar comes out! Her tunes rail against pop culture in a fantastic way and she’ll be opening the Dalston Takeover festival on October 19th.
Next into the studio were Cat Meat. Weird name, weird set-up! Their tunes are polished but their performance brilliantly shambolic! “Can we start again if we f*** up? We f*** up quite a lot” they asked! “The beauty of pre-records” I said “Is the skill of the editors” and so there’s two perfectly formed nuggets of their genius in the show for you aswell.
Finally we had Patch & The Giant - no strangers to Shoreditch Radio. Their folk-pop is simultaneously rousing and melancholic. The members are constantly switching between instruments, once I
