Last week we had bands and organisers down from the OXJAM Dalston takeover event.
The team of three girls running the event are a tight-nit bunch of volunteers who got three great bands down for the event and gave us their time to talk about running an OXJAM Takeover event.

After a quick drink in The Fox on Kingsland Road first up to record was Emily Capell, a sweet and humble kinda girl who changes the instant her guitar comes out! Her tunes rail against pop culture in a fantastic way and she’ll be opening the Dalston Takeover festival on October 19th.
Next into the studio were Cat Meat. Weird name, weird set-up! Their tunes are polished but their performance brilliantly shambolic! “Can we start again if we f*** up? We f*** up quite a lot” they asked! “The beauty of pre-records” I said “Is the skill of the editors” and so there’s two perfectly formed nuggets of their genius in the show for you aswell.

This weekend the #Playtime festival is on at Apartment 58. I went and spoke to their events manager about what’s going on over the five days.
Interview with Apartment58’s Events Manager Russell Swallow about their Playtime Festival by Ricklouder on Mixcloud
Over the last five weeks they have hosted a Battle Of The Bands style competition for acts to get themselves onto the line-up.
August and After and Mychelle were the winners and will join Morcheeba, Ghostpoet, The Noisettes, Trevor Nelson, Omar, Polly Scattergood and loads more on the bill.
5 days. 5 big headliners. 5 top DJs. 50 amazing acts.
I recorded these live sets on a rather primitive set-up at the last Shoreditch Radio social event - they came out rather good though!
We had some amazingly talented artists down, including…
August & After
Sky Between Leaves
Thanks to everyone who came down, performed or just enjoyed the event. YOU made it!
